MEDIATORS/COACHES

Shannon Thompson, M.Ed.
Mediator & Conflict Coach
Shannon received her mediation and facilitation training through Harvard's Program on Negotiation, the University of Southern Maine's Professional Development Program, The Institute for the Study of Conflict Transformation and Key2Ed Educational Consultants. In addition to the work she does with Seacoast, she also mediates on the family matters roster for the Maine Court System, she provides mediation and facilitation services for Maine's Department of Education, and she used to be a mediator and program administrator for the nonprofit formerly known as Family and Community Mediation. Her mediation experience is diverse and includes handling issues related to education, divorces, parental rights/co-parenting cases, housing/neighbor issues, work place disputes, and grievances submitted to Maine State Departments. She is particularly interested in becoming an expert in working with Teams, both to manage the disputes that often arise while working in teams as well as to help Teams accomplish important goals. Prior to becoming a mediator and facilitator, Shannon served as a special education teacher for many years, and for this reason, she cares deeply about helping school systems manage conflict effectively. When Shannon is not working she enjoys cooking, playing the violin, and being outdoors with her pup!
